VUB is one of the only seven medical universities in Barbados which have been granted the charter/ license by the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Government of Barbados to establish and operate as a recognized university in the Island of Barbados.

Barbados Accreditation Council (BAC) is the sole body responsible for assuring the quality and integrity of post-secondary or tertiary education and training in Barbados. It offers Registration, Accreditation and various Recognition services designed to set standards and processes through which higher-learning institutions can operate.
Medical Council of India (MCI)
Medical Council of India, abbreviated as MCI, is the only medical authority in India responsible for the recognition of foreign medical colleges/ universities and institutes and their qualifications in India.
To get a license for medical practice in India, a Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) must hold a valid degree from an MCI recognized Medical University.
VUB is approved and recognized by the Medical Council of India. After completing MD in Barbados at VUB, students can qualify the MCI screening test (also known as FMGE or Foreign Medical Graduates Examination) and start practice in India.
